Upfront Summit- Culture Shock

In early February 2017, we were asked to be a part of the Upfront Summit’s technology event taking place in the LA Live area. One small part of this all-day, multi-performance event for us was collaborating a piece with hip-hop dance crew, Culture Shock.
The original idea was that after the dancers performed their first piece, the drumline would enter through side doors to surprise the audience and provide a live track to the dancers. We arranged a customized piece to provide a unique beat for the dance team to use. After rehearsal and brainstorming ways to make it even better we ended up with one of our drummers playing solos in the middle of all the dancers in a, sort of, dance/drum off.
It was a great experience for us to get to collaborate with another group of phenomenal performers in Culture Shock. The result was a unique and unforgettable show for those in attendance. In fact, the producers of the event loved it so much they made it the finale of that portion of the conference.
