Premier Lacrosse League: California Redwoods
We’ve just added lacrosse to the list of professional sports games we’ve played at! This past weekend, the Premier Lacrosse League invited us to support the California Redwoods as they took on the Carolina Chaos in San Diego. It’s always exciting to grow our clientele and we couldn’t be more grateful.
First things first—how does lacrosse even work? Not only was this Sidle’s first lacrosse game, but most of our cast that day. With not so much confidence, we can say it’s kind of like ice hockey and also kind of like soccer. There are four 15-minute quarters; face-offs, offsides, penalty shots, and power plays exist. This is hardly a guidebook for the game of lacrosse.
What that meant for us, the drumline, is that we were to play before the game, in between quarters, during halftime, and after the game. This was a familiar run of show in unfamiliar territory. And so, with our Redwoods shirts in forest green, custom stickers on the bass drum heads, and LED lights set to green and yellow, we headed out there, hoping we wouldn’t screw this up too badly. Luckily, our event coordinators loved it and the audience did too! The vibe was both energetic and relaxed, which led to a great time. Here’s to hoping we book another lacrosse game in the future!
